Assmaa Niang from Morocco used to fight for France but switched for the Olympic dream. She won the Grand Prix in Düsseldorf U70kg in 2014. She won five African titles including in 2016. In 2015 she won the African Open in Port Louis in 2015 and African Open in Casablanca in 2016 and 2017. Niang won bronze at the Grand Prix in Zagreb in 2018. She finished fifth at the 2018 World Championships in Baku. She took bronze at the Grand Slam of Ekaterinburg in 2019. She competed at the Tokyo Olympic Games at the age of 38. She took a silver medal at the European Open in Rome in 2023 aged 40.
