No place for Europeans at last day of World Championships Fort Lauderdale

On the last day of the World Championships the Word titles went to Sarah Asahina, Ryutaro Goto, Sarra Mzougui and Duurenbayar Ulziibayar. No place for the European judokas who missed their chance to take the gold medals. Nine medals were won in total by five different nations.

Russian athletes won three medals on the last day of competition, one silver and two bronze medals. French judokas won silver and bronze while Georgia took one silver. Silver and bronze medal was also won by the team of Ukraine and one bronze went to Poland.                      

In the U100kg category Niyaz Ilyasov from Russia lost the final against Japanese Ryutaro Goto. Guga Kibordzalidze (GEO) was the finalist in the O100kg, but also couldn’st find the solution against Mongolian Duurenbayar Ulziibayar.                       

Women final U78kg was between Sarra Mzougui of Tunisa who took the world title against French Sama Hawa Camara. Anastasiia Sapsai (UKR) lost the O78kg final fight, Sarah Asahina from Japan won fight by ippon after only 24 seconds of fight, amazing Harai-goshi.                          

Tomorrow starts Team World Championships, Men’s team of Georgia will defend their title from Ljubljana last year.
