At least a surprising selection of Georgia for the European Championships in Warsaw in April. The team doesn’t include World and triple European champion Avtandili Tchrikishvili. Despite the severe competition for the positions in Georgia a remarkable conclusion. Tchrikishvili was even more confused when he learned the news on Facebook.

The 2014 World Champion who won the Paris Grand Slam in 2014 and 2016 U81kg switched to U90kg after the Olympic Games. Many of the team switched such as Varlam Liparteliani to U100kg and Beka Gviniashvili back to his original weight of U90kg. So far the season hasn’t been easy for Tchrikishvili who wasn’t successful in both Paris as Düsseldorf and was injured.

Tchrikishvili who was flag bearer for Georgia at the 2016 Olympic Games saw the following selection going to Warsaw for the individual tournament and wasn’t even selected for the team tournament on Sunday.

Men:

U60kg Papinashvili and Chkhvimiani

U66kg  Margvelashvili

U73kg Shavdatuashvili

U81kg Rekhviashvili

U90kg Gviniashvili

U100kg Liparteliani

+100kg Okruashvili and Tushishvili

Women:

U57kg Liparteliani

+78kg Kebadze
