Canadian judoka Christa Deguchi is the 2023 and 2019 World Champion. She took gold at the Grand Slam in Ulaanbaatar in 2023. She claimed gold at the IJF Masters in Jerusalem in 2022. Christa won bronze at the World Championships in Baku in 2018 as first Canadian. She won the Grand Slam in Paris three times. Christa won two World Junior Championships medals and gold with the team of Japan. Deguchi won two Panam titles. She bagged the Grand Slam gold in Antalya in 2021 and gold at Grand Prix in Zagreb in 2022. She won the Commonwealth Games in 2022 in Birmingham and Grand Slam gold in Baku.
